How your watch history is processed

When you choose watch-history.json, the file is read and parsed inside your browser. The raw file itself is never uploaded and we never store a copy of it.

From that file we extract only YouTube watch entries and send them to our backend over an encrypted (HTTPS) connection so your dashboard and library can exist across devices and sessions. This means part of your watch history is stored on our servers — it does not stay only on your device.

What we store

  • Video title, video URL/ID and channel name and URL for each watch entry
  • The timestamp of each watch entry
  • Whether our classifier detected the entry as a subliminal, plus goal categories
  • Aggregates we compute from those rows (play counts, first/last watched, streaks)
  • Import metadata: the file name and file size of the export you selected
  • Your account email and display name, and subscription status if you subscribe

Non-subliminal watch entries are discarded when an import finishes; only detected subliminal entries are retained.

What we never store or do

  • We never receive or store your Google password, and we never connect to your Google account
  • We never store the raw Takeout file or the zip archive
  • We never sell or share your history, and we do not train models on it
  • We never send video titles, channel names or history entries to analytics

Who can see your data

Your rows are scoped to your account with database row-level security, so other users cannot read them. Our hosting and database provider processes the data on our behalf. Payments are handled by Stripe; we never see or store your card details.

Product analytics

We record a small number of anonymous product events (for example: an import started, an import succeeded, a page was viewed) so we can see where the product breaks. These events never include video titles, channel names, history entries, raw file contents or your email address.

Deleting your data

In Settings you can delete your imported history at any time, which permanently removes your watch entries, computed library and import records. You can also delete your entire account, which additionally removes your profile and login. Deletions are permanent and are not recoverable.
